This is the alpha version for a text based battle fuck rpg that I'm working on in Ren'py.

In Monster Girl Dreams you play as a male adventurer, freshly graduated from the adventuring school, Adventum!

Adventure, Loot, and don't get fucked into submission!

Also defeat the demon queen. Maybe.

The content is mostly vanilla. Currently.
M/F, femdom, and monster girls are main themes.

I have the intent to allow the game to be relatively easy to mod. Which will allow people to make their own enemies, skills and items. Basically everything. Including adding images to enemies and scenes.

Feedback on what people think of its current state would be appreciated.
And please let me know if you find bugs.

Modding
-Added the following combat functions. ChangeMonsterMaxArousal, ChangeMonsterMaxSpirit ,ChangeMonsterPower, ChangeMonsterWill, ChangeMonsterTech, ChangeMonsterAllure, ChangeMonsterLuck, ChangeMonsterSensitivity, ChangeMonsterStatusEffectResistances, and ChangeMonsterFetish. They work exactly the same as the player versions, but for the currently focused monster.
-Added NPC additions, check the NPCAdditionExample.json for an example. Aka you can now add content onto existing NPCs if you want.
-Added Event additions, check the EventAdditionExample.json for an example. Aka you can add onto and edit existing events if you want. If a scene in the addition has the same name as a pre-existing scene in the event, it will replace the original.
-Added RequiresEvent, RequiredEventProgress, WhichEventChoice, and RequiredEventChoice as an optional set of NPC dialogue requirement checks, if you want to use them you must put all four. NPCAdditionExample.json has it in one of it’s dialogues.

Fixes
-Combat events no longer crash into the ground for no reason, aka tengu instant breaking combat.
-If multiple enemies orgasm at the same time, they both fade out correctly.
-Fixed an issue where enemies couldn’t escape a stance with the player if the player was stunned, asleep, restrained or fully tranced, instead of getting out of the stance assuredly.
-Invigorate, and similar skills, now work correctly again. It must have accidently been undone during the resolution changes.
-Fixed an issue where image changes called during surrender weren’t working correctly.

-Should be last small update before v19 happens. Hopefully.

Save Integrity: Good, probably. Make sure to load your old save in town!

Content

-Added a new event to the forest. Mostly as a free space for starting players, and as a special reward for luck builds. There is a second way to get it though…

Balanceing

-Fixing fetishes and sensitivities now counts less towards tribute/donations for the goddess.

Modding
-Added IfTributeStep function to check the tribute level for goddess statue. It currently goes up to 6.
-Added PermanentlyChangeSensitivity function so sensitivities can be negatively altered permanently.
-The example mod now has an example of how to add an image to your mod, just check perpetua’s monster file in the example mod and the images folder in the example mod.

Fixes
-Fixed an issue where the Return to town function borked stuff if it was called in a loss scene, Lillian is not Nicci.
-Enemies no longer decide to just give up and instant lose for no reason.
-Enemy responses to being analyzed, at least those that have it. Now display properly.
-Fixed one of Camilla’s dialogue paths to not change the background back to the mountain.
-The switch to turn on and off encounters on the blue side now sets up correctly if you try to use it after completing the blue side. It will also fix itself if you wander around the blue side locations.
-ChangeArousalByPercent now changes the players arousal instead of setting it.
-Super surrendering no longer has a pointless round of combat.
-Fixed an issue where fetishes could carry between a game you were playing and starting a new game.
-Kunoichi trainee’s can no longer double footjob you as the context made no sense for the skill. Also should prevent the issue where their double team scene didn’t play.
-Assorted typos and grammar fixes!

v18.3 change log

Note: If you were having odd issues with enemies just sort of instant losing, please ensure you load your save in town to update the save, not doing so can cause weird things to happen. Saves are auto updated in a new version when you move around the town locations, or can be done manually from options while in town. If the issues persist please report them with as much detail as you can.

Content
-Minoni now has more content once you’ve cleared the Power half of the temple dungeon. Her arm wrestle rematch has been redone. She has 3 lewd scenes. Remember, cuddling isn’t lewd.

Balancing
-Nerfed Nicci’s restraint skill, luck, and many of her skills aphrodisiac applications, given she applies them constantly. She is also now considered a level 15 enemy and gives a bit more exp.
-Nerfed some other restraints.
-Feng and Aiko have had their max arousal increased.

Art
-Amber now has art by Applehead.

Modding
-EndVictoryEvent added, so victory events give out rewards properly.
-GetEventAndSetChoice add to allow changing of variables across events.
-SetSpirit – set players spirit to a number, is then rounded to maximum or zero.
- StatCheckRollUnder – Functions the exact same as StatCheck but displays pass text for the fail and fail check for any passes, also states the goal is to roll under. Can have multiple checks like StatCheck too.
-Changed how choices/key word varibles are handled allowing theoretically infinite choice/variable options while stopping the game from holding onto unneeded blank variables. Hopefully won’t cause any new crashes. Aka, you’re no longer limited to 9.


Tweaks
-Tweaks to the new resolution UI thanks to ShivanHunter. Notably skills in the character menu are no longer highlighted if you can’t use them out of combat.
-Random encounters now get turned off in the dungeon after you finish that side. Except the ninjas.
-Added switches by the entrance to each side to turn them on and off.

Fixes
-The second round of BJ with the kunoichi trainee now properly triggers instead of ending the scene.
-Kyra and the kunoichi trainee now properly give post battle rewards when you beat them.
-Fixed the player continuing penetrate after being countered by Aiko.
-Invigorate no longer greys itself out if your energy is below 50. Given it uses your arousal not energy.
-Fixed Cathy’s initial sex options not jumping to the right events.
-Changed how orgasms and losses are detected so combat events can finish you off again.
-Fixed an issue where if you didn’t fuck feng after her battle you would get blooped back to the entrance to her room instead of going to flip the power lever.
-Sleeping characters can no longer dodge status effects.

-Edits/typo fixing to feng and aiko’s events as well as some assorted minor things. Also about 80% of Kotone’s content has also been greatly touched up and improved. By WilliamTheShatner.

Resolution change

-The game now functions at 1920 x 1080. But can be easily scaled smaller in options or switched to full screen.

Content
-The kunoichi trainee’s now have 3 scenes available when you defeat them.
- Kunoichi trainee’s also now have a new loss scene for the footjob stance. With special thanks to zyxxz on the ulmf forum.
-Kunoichi Trainee’s now actually have lines for trying to get out of their footjob stance.

Balancing
-The player now gets to try and break free of stances once per turn without using up their turn.
-Greatly changed the equation for escaping restraints to make it easier to scale/balance restraint effect.
-Added a ‘desperate struggle’ option for escaping restraints that greatly increases how fast you can get out of restraints at the cost of 10 energy.
-Restraints now scale better with the stat of the skill, and many restraint skills have been tweaked.
-Increased energy cost of teleport from 10 to 20, and increased the willpower required to learn it.
-Increased energy cost of distract to 10 from 5 and increased it’s fail chance slightly. It’s also inadvertently nerfed from the changes to stance escaping.
-Let me know if restraints are too strong now. Note that power builds are the best for getting out of them normally.

Assorted Tweaks
-
Weakspot now only displays if the fetish is lvl 3 or higher, instead of when you have even a single fetish level.
-Characters can no longer cum from status effect skills or skills that buff the opponent. Aka If your over max arousal and your opponent uses a skill that increases their attack you don’t orgasm. So a character must now take direct arousal to finish them off.
-Tengu Harpies no longer have the energetic bounce skill and it has been replaced with a new skill.

Art
-Elena now has character art by Jiffic. Also Perpetua has three new currently unused expressions for later.
-Also all character art has been resized for the game’s new resolution.

Fixes
-Nicci will no longer display nursing hand job lines on player orgasm if the player is nursing and fucking her.
-Nicci will no longer begin tit fucking you while you’re fucking her ass.
-Fixed Feng’s second phase not activating so the player easily wins the fight.
-Fetishes now increase damage by x0.05(5%) per level instead of x0.5(50%) per level, like they’re supposed to.
-Fixed an issue with some skills not properly triggering orgasms if their status effect missed.
-The page buttons at the goddesses statue for fixing fetishes now work correctly.
-You can no longer get a foot job and a blowjob at the same time from two kunoichi trainees.

Tweaks

-Monster orgasm dialogue is now displayed a bit differently, taking the redundant generic line out.
-The circular scroll bar for perks/fetishes can now be left and right click to be moved, this is a band aid fix until it’s set up to be moved like a normal scroll bar for the people who have been having issues with it, let me know if it helps or not.
-Character creation now properly starts your selected fetish at level 3 instead of 2.
-Tengu’s will no longer use Gale Force if you’re restrained.
-Characters now get a 2 turn charm immunity after recovering from charm by any means.
-Kunoichi Trainee’s have 25 less max arousal.
-Kunoichi Trainee’s now have a new erotic kiss skill to use while making out.
-The escape artist perk now helps you escape from the Tengu’s and Aiko’s combat event restraints.

Art
-The matango now emotes in combat.
-Vivian now changes expressions as well.
-Added mediocre temp backgrounds to the temple.

Modding
-Added the ApplyStatusEffectQuietly function, works the same as ApplyStatusEffect but does not display a line.
- SetArousalToMax function added, sets player arousal to max.
- Added ChangeArousalByPercent and ChangeEnergyByPercent to changes players arousal or energy based on maximum of the stat.

Bug Fixes
-Getting all your fetishes fixed at the statue will no longer crash the game if using an older save file, in addition the game will now properly track newly added fetishes correctly. Note: If you gained temporary monstrous fetish before this patch, it’s probably permanent.
-While making out with kunoichi’s they will no longer get Aiko’s make out skill instead of their normal erotic mist skill.
-Losing to the tengu normally no longer crashes the game.
-Going back to the entrance to the will trail room no longer has Minoni pop up for no reason.
-Enemy names should no longer be speaking after combat.
-Using trance removal items out of combat now works properly.
-Fixed an issue where the PlayerOrgasmNoSpiritLoss function was skipping dialogue and other lines.
-When fighting two Kunoichi trainees the can no longer give you a blowjob and fuck you at the same time.
-Should no longer have weird occasions where you’re exploring somewhere after being at the temple, then getting warped back to the temple.
-Ass path for one of the will tests no longer smashes you with an extra 500 arousal instead of the intended 50.
-Kotone’s quiz can no longer send you to fight a kunoichi trainee.
-The second treasure chest on the red side no longer warps you back to the first chest.
-FocusedSpeaks function now properly gives quotation marks to characters.
-A certain perk no longer condenses itself in the perk list and makes things look bad.
-Fixed an issue with Vivian’s name not displaying in the intro.
-Fixed two elves sometimes not starting a threesome when they beat you.
-Getting you fetishes fixed at the goddess statue can no longer set them below 0. This issue was most likely caused by the issues with the monstrous fetish, using the statue to fix your fetishes will fix and negative fetishes.
-Fixed the player’s equipment not updating to support the trance status effect and related crash.
-Applying status effect buffs or nerfs to the player via events now works correctly.
-Kunoichi Trainee’s can no longer use Super erotic mist when they aren’t supposed to be able to.

Writing/Editing
-Copious writing fixings courtesy of WilliamTheShatner. But not everything for the temple has been gone over yet. So still expect typos and such. But the Harpy Tengu’s lines are now have more differences compared to the normal harpies.

Content – Temple Dungeon! – Note: The dungeon is currently incomplete and unable to be completed.
-A dungeon you actually walk around in!
-5 new enemies.
-2 non-fightable NPCs in the dungeon.
-Skill check based trials!
-A sort of side quest, that also can’t be completed as you can’t finish the dungeon yet.
Note: After completing the initial portions of the dungeon the random encounters will stop occurring, I’ll be adding a feature to toggle them back on in a future patch. So don’t worry about losing out on content.

Other Content
-Added Monstrous to the fetish list, for tails, wings, and what have you. It can also be gained from older events and scenes.
-6 new equipment items.
-Trance status effect! Talk to Elena in town for more details. Also there’s a consumable item to help deal with it.

Art – Note: Neither of the new art’s currently change emotions.
-Vivian by Plasmid – She has a nude and lingerie versions that are not yet utilized.
-The Matago by Applehead.

Balancing
-The lion’s amulet accessory now has a drawback.
-When the sleep effect ends for the player, they get to act that turn.
-Nerfed Semen Frenzy from 50% attack boost on enemies to 30%.

Modding
-StoreCurrentEventSpotSkippingLines and GoBackToStoredEvent functions now exist for events. Used for repeatable events and going back to a different spot depending where it’s triggered. Be careful wen using it, read the section in the mod manual or the examples of it in the temple dungeon.
-RunningWontSkipEvent precombat event function allows the event to continue after combat even if the player runs. Precombat and precombat monster functions are now also detected in a smarter way.
-PlayerStep applies out of combat status effects to the player, only aphrodisiac currently.
-ChangeWill, ChangePower, ChangeTech, ChangeAllure, and ChangeLuck, added to allow permanent alterations to player stats.
-PermanentChangeStatusEffectResistances – Allows permanent alterations to the players ability to resist status effects.
-PermanentlyChangeFetish – Permanently add fetishes to the player, can not be removed by the goddess statue.
-ChangeMaxArousal - ChangeMaxEnergy – ChangeMaxSpirit – Change the respective maximum permanently for the player.
-IfPlayerHasStatusEffectWithPotencyEqualOrGreater and IfMonsterHasStatusEffectWithPotencyEqualOrGreater - functions to check status effect potency in combat events.
-DefeatMonster – Defeats the focused monster, giving out exp and loot for the player when combat ends.
-RemoveStatusEffect – Removes a specified status effect from the player.


Fixes
-Stopped renpy from deleting the mod folders when it makes a distribution for the game. Thereby fixing the issues people were having with the mod loader.
-Lillian can now have a bubble on the main menu. Under fixes because I forgot to do that before.
-Getting fetishes once you hit max fetish level will no longer continue to add to you temp Fetish count, so when you go to pay off your fetishes you can’t theoretically go into the negative fetish levels.
-Player equipment now properly updates with changes to the items equipped.
-Fixed an issue where enemies could ignore the stance escaped rules and put you into a stance anyways.

Hmmm, not bad I'd say so far. I noticed an early bug of sorts, in the intro bit when Vivian gets interrupted, the other girl's dialogue isn't called up. It gets the like, EventFlag text or something instead.

Went and made a version of a character of mine in it though. He didn't last long. As it turns out, being weak to most things, with a sensitive cock, doesn't matter even if his Energy is high, hahaha.

Very nice base for a game.
Some things i found:
1. Can't buy any skill or items even through i do have the right stats and have enough eros. (buttons don't light up)
2. If you go to page 2 in Elena skill buy, you also move to page 2 in Elly skill buy so when you try to learn skills from Elly you get everything empty and nothing to buy
3. More that 1 enemy at the same time is quite impossible, especially if you have oral weakness and fighting against 2 elves.
4. Is impossible to run away if the enemy puts you in a stance each time after you break up. (Especially annoying when fighting against elves and even more if fighting against 2)

Very nice base for a game.
Some things i found:
1. Can't buy any skill or items even through i do have the right stats and have enough eros. (buttons don't light up)
2. If you go to page 2 in Elena skill buy, you also move to page 2 in Elly skill buy so when you try to learn skills from Elly you get everything empty and nothing to buy
3. More that 1 enemy at the same time is quite impossible, especially if you have oral weakness and fighting against 2 elves.
4. Is impossible to run away if the enemy puts you in a stance each time after you break up. (Especially annoying when fighting against elves and even more if fighting against 2)

Combat balance is something I still very much need to work on.

I recommend you grab the fixed ver as turns out, there were some errors.
Possibly still are.
And I am sorry I didn't use the tags when I posted as I had no idea they even existed at the time.

I admit, I'm a bit curious as to how this game would play if you could play as a heroine instead of a hero... but I wouldn't imagine that'd happen.

EXACTLY that, except with monstergirls. Oh, and on the topic of MGQ...

This game has a somewhat MGQ-esque feel to it. The hero "chosen" by the Goddess, a "demon queen", etc. It's hitting all the tropes, which is neat. Not a huge fan of the sex-fighting gimmick and kind of wish you didn't use it. That said, it's alright for what it is.

Good:

-Status effects.
-Story
-Concept

Bad:

-Very bare-bones.
-Lack of images can be a turn-off for some. Your short descriptions are okay, but rely too much on one's imagination.
-Going back to the first point, the fact that we have only one area and so few enemies (3 is not sufficient, and most devs who have art, etc at least 10 enemies, multiple areas, etc) makes this feel like a rush-job with no perspective on how to garner interest.
-Learning skills and buying/selling buttons don't work.

There are a few issues outside of the listed points I would like to address, as well. You've got a pre-emptive patreon link, which makes me think this was slapped together in an hour with the hope of capturing some of the magic that made Fenoxo big. Your issue is, Fen had more than 3 enemies, one area, and a shoddy excuse for a "main hub" to release to people. He also doesn't paywall content, although free players have to wait for content that paying players already have access to. CoC, Mutant Minx Meltdown, and other such text-based open-world games had a fair-sized chunk of content in their first alpha to entice players before money was brought into the discussion (if at all).

I like the concept (even if the style of combat isn't my cup of tea) and hope you'll continue to develop this game. Unfortunately, I'm also one of those people who, after seeing a bare-bones "proof of concept" and a patreon page, gets suspicious and decides it would be better to invest my time elsewhere.

Overall I have a ton of work to do.
I don't mean to come off as harsh, so I apologize if it sounded that way. I don't mind things about the hub town as much mostly because it's, well, just a hub. Buy and sell shit, maybe a few events happen, etc. It's probably the least on one's list of things to improve, so don't feel pressured to make it exciting or shit.

My main issues are lack of encounters and areas to explore. At least one dungeon to accompany the forest would show some dedication to continuing the project. Also, art isn't a primary focus for text-based games so long as scenes and such are sufficiently-detailed. Hell, for the time being, I would even suggest just grabbing some widely-available art from places like e621 and Gelbooru and uses them as placeholders while you build the game to a more "functional" state.

The patreon thing is definitely a red flag, and I can respect someone who recognizes that they might have been a bit quick in their rush to "cash-in", regardless of how innocent their intent. The dev I'm supporting did the same thing as you did with having little more than a proof of concept and a promise. The deciding factor (for me, anyways) was his dedication to the project and the style of content he produced. He's now a year in, re-working the models, and adding more each month. I would give it another year before we have a full game.

Point is, I like what you're offering, but wish you'd put a bit more into it before releasing an alpha. Text-based stuff is pretty common nowadays, although good text-based content is sparse. I checked your patreon page and saw that your goals are realistic and you plan to dedicate a questionable amount of time to this project. Biggest hurdle for any developer is meeting deadlines and producing worthwhile content at the same time. Have praise-worthy goals, but don't be unrealistic. Writing isn't as easy as some people think, and it's not something you're always going to feel the motivation to do.

There is definitely some MGQ influences/references in this though. The Angry Lizard Girl event might feel like a certain someone you may know and love from MGQ...

Something I've thought of from playing some more, but shouldn't there be some kind of dialogue/reaction from the opponent if the hero cums?

I don't mean to come off as harsh, so I apologize if it sounded that way. I don't mind things about the hub town as much mostly because it's, well, just a hub. Buy and sell shit, maybe a few events happen, etc. It's probably the least on one's list of things to improve, so don't feel pressured to make it exciting or shit.

My main issues are lack of encounters and areas to explore. At least one dungeon to accompany the forest would show some dedication to continuing the project. Also, art isn't a primary focus for text-based games so long as scenes and such are sufficiently-detailed. Hell, for the time being, I would even suggest just grabbing some widely-available art from places like e621 and Gelbooru and uses them as placeholders while you build the game to a more "functional" state.

Well my personal problem with the hub is that the NPC characters in it are kinda non-existent, I mostly just want to expand on them for the hub, at the very least give them proper introductions.
And let the player work at Vivian's Inn/Brothel.

Content like more enemies, quests, events and the first dungeon should probably be what I should be focusing on for a bit. Probably just content period.

Don't know about the tagging issue, but pretty sure you have to ask a moderator to edit the thread name. Your account doesn't have too many posts to it, either, so you'll run into issues posting links.

Yes, edit your first post in advanced mode to change the title iirc. Hit edit on the post in question and in the bottom right corner of the text box click the Go Advanced button.

As for tags, scroll down to the bottom of the window while viewing the thread, there should be a box labeled tags, and click the edit tags button.

I think you need more posts.

I do plan on adding more to monster dialogues, so it's definitely something I'll work on in the future, as well as allowing enemies to react to certain attacks used on them.

Seems great so far, i love the approach with the random events, has a combat system somewhat similar to Succubus Rhapsodia where you get put into different states with various holds and weaknesses.

I'd really love to see more traps like the Inn.

Short answer: Male protag only.

Long answer: To be honest it isn't completely outside the realm of possibility for me to add in a female protag. But a female protag would basically need her own story, own versions of events and/or new events, and a bunch of changes to the combat system. It would basically double the amount of work I'd need to do, if not more. So for now, and probably a long time, I am going to stay focused on improving and expanding on what there is now rather than spread myself thin.

On a sort of related note, I'm considering fusing events and traps in to a single events category given they are very interchangeable.

Some initial feedback;

-I like the setup. It's pretty amusing and creative and a fun plot twist. Seeing the MC and especially lizard girl's ways of dealing with it is really fun.

-Might just be I can't find it yet, but it doesn't seem like there's much interaction with the Blowjob status. Making Out you can (in theory) use for deep kiss, Sex has Thrust and Pound, but BJ doesn't have anything like a throatfuck, grabbing dem elfin ears and trying to take control, etc. Speaking of making out...

-Deep Kiss hasn't actually worked for me yet, even when I'm in the Making Out status (not exactly hard with elves...) I always get the message it failed.

-Also on the note of elves, considering how well they tag team you - one just hoovers your dick and the other hoovers your lungs - it's a bit of a letdown that when you lose, one of them stops existing while the other fucks you. Seems like a prime opportunity for a messy threesome.

-Have I mentioned I like the elves a lot?

-Alraunes are great too, especially their loss/surrender 'endings'

-Two-enemy battles are REALLY fun for the H possibility, but very non interactive after a point. With one elf glued to your dick and one facehugger, most of your actions are sealed, you can't really interact with either of them with most of your moves. I actually like the idea a lot, just feels like I should get some new options there since they're both latched onto me and not going anywhere. Throatfuck, double grope, give in to the thiccness, whatever.

-I like the Inn mini plotline and the choice you can make on the second time around, but it doesn't seem to effect much, you still get drained/drugged the same. That section seems like it has a lot of potential though and the innkeeper is interesting.

-There's very little fanfare for cumming in battle. No one reacts, you just get stunned for a turn and enemies get to pile on some free lust, and then everything continues as normal. I'm not saying there should be major out of battle losses to it (kinda annoying when you lose permanent stats for trying to enjoy the content in a h game) but larger consequences in battle, like setting the enemy you came on in a lust frenzy or something, could be more interesting to play against!

-Not sure if this is a bug or I'm just unlucky, but I've NEVER seen the second elf use Blowjob Assist and neither of them uses Magical Binding

-I can't seem to get images to work when customizing stuff, are there any special rules for that? Either nothing shows up at all or it gets an error saying it can't find the image whether I give the full location, including file type, or just move it into the images folder and use "name.png" still gives the error.

-4+ monsters in one location breaks the scroll bar

Overall it seems like a great start to a game that I can see myself enjoying enormously - the framework you have down now is fantastic! Writing is solid too, which is the part where these games make or break. Definitely looking forward to seeing more. Spent a few hours today messing with the modding and adding a few new enemies to mess around with, those damn commas keep getting me! haha
